202 Butler Street, (Commonly known as ''Pumpernickel's''), is one of the premier buildings in Downtown Saugatuck, on the busiest corner for both foot traffic and drive by traffic in town. It also has more outside exposed seating than any other restaurant on the main street in Saugatuck, (which is Butler Street). Pumpernickel's Restaurant has successfully operated out of this historic building for approximately 40 years. Additionally, it is one of the most historic buildings, dating back to 1840. Just for some historical perspective, at the time 202 Butler was built, there were only 26 States in the Union. Michigan being the most recent state added on January, 26th, 1837.
